Te Akau

An outstanding Te Akau weekend with two black type races won and a season tally of 61 wins!

Te Akau owners Mark Walker enjoyed another stellar weekend as trainer Mark Walker prepared two black type winners, taking Te Akau's win tally for the season to 61 - 13 wins ahead of any other stable!

It is a great time to be involved - and this record of excellence is not a season-one-off.  Te Akau's record of winning races for our owners is second to none in recent years.  That is why Te Akau has been the champion stable in four of the past six years, winning Premiership after Premiership - delivering the results on the racetrack.

The two "Z's" of Zarzuela and Zabene, both offspring of the great Zabeel, produced scintillating performances this weekend to win the Group 3 $70,000 HS Dyke Waikato Guineas and Listed 138th Dunedin Casino Gold Cup respectively.  Zabeel continues his impressive dominance as a sire - and in fact Te Akau has a stunning colt by Zabeel from Juncture that we are now selling shares in - he cost $180,000 and already he is proving popualr with shares in him already being sold on both sides of the Tasman.

Te Akau's impressive season sens Mark Walker with 61 wins to his credit - with 40 second and 43 third placings from just 324 runners.  Six of these race wins have been at Group and Listed level and prize money earnings are now $1.20 million - this is the fifth consecutive year that Te Akau has topped the $1 million mark in stakes.  Walker's strike rate of 5.31 is the best of the top 25 trainers - an outstanding achievement.
